Abu Dhabi Classics

Between 2008 and 2011 the Abu Dhabi Classics brought an incredible selection of orchestras, conductors and soloists to the United Arab Emirates. The Vienna Philharmonic, the Berlin Philharmonic, the orchestra of the Bayreuth Festival, Christian Thielemann, Zubin Metha, Cecilia Bartoli and Lang Lang are arbitrary examples out of a long list. Acoustically transforming the gala hall of the Emirates Palace Hotel with the Vivace System into a concert hall for these exceptional artists was a great pleasure. My colleague Marcus Blome proceeded with this during the next years also producing some very fine recordings on behalf of the festival. Besides watching the unbelievable luxury of the hotel, I learned in this project that a large volume of a venue is sufficient to make the created concert hall sound credible despite of thick carpets, heavily upholstered armchairs and fabric everywhere.
