Beside many rehearsal rooms, the new home of the Zentrum für Kunst und Musik of the University Augsburg contains a small concert hall which is used for lectures and chamber music concerts as well as for rehearsals and performances of the orchestra of the university. This large variety of usage was accommodated by using absorbent roller banners behind the acoustically transparent claddings. To create a transparent and enveloping sound and at the same time reducing too high sound levels with large orchestras, an elaborate system of directing wall and ceiling reflections was necessary. The concerts in this venue are very pleasing and up to now, despite it is near to my hometown, I haven’t been able to hear as many of them as I would like to do.
