Orchestra rehearsal room, Staatsphilharmonie Rheinland-Pfalz

Improving the acoustic conditions in the large rehearsal room of the Staatsphilharmonie Rheinland-Pfalz was a project which accompanied me much longer than I had expected when it started in 2014. With a volume of 5,100 m³ and quite efficiently structured wall claddings the hall provided really good prerequisites. Perceiving in rehearsals the problems an unfavourable ceiling can still cause was very instructive. The proposed solution consisted of a whole range of acoustic measures and in coordination with the very committed architects and innovative air ventilation planners the project proceeded very well but with long breaks between the individual planning steps. Thus, we arrived with the construction phase exactly during covid causing additional delays. Since 2021 the orchestra is back in its home, and only 14 days ago I visited the first time a rehearsal without strange covid distances among the orchestra musicians.
